Fedora 16, Verne Is Out!
Wednesday, Nov 9, 2011, 7:42 PM
The Fedora Project is pleased to announce the release of Fedora 16 (Verne)

Dedicated to Dennis Ritchie
During the preparation of Fedora 16, the computing world lost one of its great contributors: Dennis Ritchie. Ritchie co-invented Unix and the C language. He also co-authored "The C Programming Language", a book that taught many programmers just at the time personal computing was exploding. Without Ritchie computing would be nothing like it is today.

A humble man, not well-known outside his field, Dennis will always be remembered by those of us who practice the craft. Thank you Dennis.

Dennis Ritchie, Father of C and Co-Developer of Unix (1941-2011)
Saturday, Oct 15, 2011, 4:49 PM

Linus Torvalds once said, in reference to the development of Linux, that he “had hoisted [himself] up on the shoulders of giants.” Among those giants, Dennis Ritchie (aka dmr) was likely the tallest. Ritchie, the creator of the C programming language and co-developer of the Unix operating system, passed away on October 8 at the age of 70, leaving a legacy that casts a very long shadow.

HB 1011: Free/Open Source Act of 2010
Tuesday, Oct 4, 2011, 4:10 PM
Engels and I were invited by the Committee in Information & Communications Technology of the House of Representatives to today's public hearing for House Bill 1011 aka FOSS Act of 2010.

The hearing was chaired by Congressman Freddie Tinga, who openly supported Open Source.

I hope that a cleaner and more polished version of this bill gets passed into law.
