Monday, Jul 17, 2006, 9:08 PMBluepoint's Open for Business Conference is finally over. The one-day event at the Richmonde Hotel last Saturday was another learning experience for all of us at the foundation. Sen. Jovito Salonga led us in prayer and Ms. Iya Yotoko of Digital Tour was the master of ceremonies. The delegates arrived an hour earlier than expected but the Intel and Datablitz exhibit booths kept them occupied before the program started. The five-track seminar sessions were delivered by decalibred speakers and some lucky delegates got a chance to bring home books raffled by Datablitz and antique Red Hat Boxes. Everyone was glad to bring home a Bluepoint mug. It seemed that the overnight cram of Bluepoint's staff paid off. Although Cong. Kintanar did not arrive to deliver the keynote (some say that he always does this -- hold you and beg off the last minute), it was not a lost to Bluepoint. We now know better.
Since we cannot telecommute taking care of my two angels, we got a suite for them. Our three-night no-work no-laptop-booting stay at Richmonde was also rewarding. Breakfasts were great and room service excellent. I would recommend the Richmonde hotel to anyone who would like to get value for their money esp. those doing business at the Ortigas area.
By the way, I'm sure that the Tulay beneficiaries of "Open for Business" share the success of the conference. Teachers from foundations for the disabled will get free training on Linux System Administration to introduce alternative and cost-efficient solutions to their respective organizations and ripple down the know-how to their disabled students.
